The idea of clothes swapping has gained popularity but it’s still uncommon for many. @refillmybottle_ together with @zerowaste.id_official organised the first Baby Clothing Swap in Sunny Side Playscape, Denpasar – Bali, last December. We specifically arranged the event in a kids-friendly environment so that parents can bring their little ones to play in the arena and babies have a dedicated changing table. The clothes swapping activity was followed by a small group discussion on low-waste parenting with our guest speakers who are moms and environmental enthusiast, Dominique Diyose from Bali Swap, Maurilla Imron from Zerowaste Indonesia and Christine Go from RefillMyBottle. From a parenting angle, there are a lot of things that we can do as parents to reduce waste at home; wearing your baby cloth diapers instead of disposable ones, renting toys instead of buying new ones, or joining baby clothes swap in your community. The idea of swapping is to give a second life and save them from landfills.
This is hoped to be the beginning of something bigger, opening opportunities for other items swapping, such as toys or children’s books. Follow our Instagram account to stay updated.
