B
rewing your own coffee every morning and habitually toss the grounds into the trash? It’s time for a change! Did you know there are many wonderful things you can do with these used coffee grounds and there are many
benefits of using coffee grounds in the garden?
We teamed up with ZeroWaste ID, Namaskara Coffee & Superfoods, and Kumpul Coworking last month for the DIY Body Scrub Workshop (psst.. it’s just one of the many things you can do with your used coffee grounds, continue to scroll to find out more). Around 20 creative and amazing women joined us that evening to have a hands-on experience in creating their own skincare products. Don’t worry if you missed our workshop, there are plenty of video tutorials you can find on the Internet. Anyone can do this at home and at a low cost! No need to spend your fortune on commercial exfoliationg products or cellulite cream.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup coffee grounds
- 1/4 cup of coconut oil (you can also replace it with olive oil)
- 1/2 cup of granulated or brown sugar
- Vanilla extract or a few drops of your favorite essential oils (optional)
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and massage it onto your skin with firm pressure during a shower.
To all the men, you can do something else with your used coffee grounds as they are also great for compost and also as a fertilizer. Find out more about coffee grounds and gardening here. If you have questions like whether or not coffee grounds can be used to boost plant growth or perhaps to reduce a weed problem, read more here to learn the use of coffee grounds in the garden and when not to use them.
Special thanks to Maurilla from Zerowaste ID for leading the workshop and sharing your knowledge, and to Namaskara for providing us with used coffee grounds, and for Kumpul Coworking for hosting us at your lovely Joglo in Kembali Hub. Last but not least, thank you to all our participants, it was great to meet you all and see your enthusiasm!
